Agro-allied Business Financing: C'River to benefit from Solidarid International

Cross River State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Mfon Bassey has said that the State will be a beneficiary of the Agro-allied business financing of Solidarid International Organization.

The Commissioner gave the assurance after a recent meeting with Solidaridad International Organization in his Office in Calabar.

Hon. Bassey said with the industrial revolution in the sector, the state will explore every available opportunity to better the lot of her citizens.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Effiom Ene-Obong said the Government will conform to all requirements to ensure the state is not left behind among the eight pilot States.

In his remarks, Field Agronomist, Solidaridad International Mr. Egong Owai, said their areas of intervention include: capacity building of smallholders, organization,and local institutions to improve performance, support development of mechanism to operate in landscapes prone to deforestation/degradation as well as financing and provision of alternative source of livelihood specifically in oil palm production.

He stated that the organization is looking forward to partnering  with the State Government to reach out to key players in the sector (the farmers) through awareness creation and other aspects.
